It is that time of year again for YWCA Glendale’s annual Adopt-A-Family program!
When the YWCA founded the Domestic Violence Project in 1979, the organization’s focus became to empower women and children who are victims of domestic violence by providing assistance to achieving independence, self-sufficiency and a life free from violence.
Each year, YWCA Glendale tries to make holiday wishes come true for some of our neediest women and children impacted by domestic violence. Through our Adopt-A-Family program, each family has the opportunity to provide a list of their most needed and desired items. Then, you can “adopt” a family by meeting their wishes on the family’s list. Though not all wishes can be met, we strive to give each family as much as we can. Many of our families are in shelter or transitional housing and appreciate gift cards and low lift items.
If you are interested in adopting a family or individual this holiday season, please email email@example.com with the following criteria:
-Number of families or individuals you would like to adopt
-Size of family you would like to adopt. Example: I would like to adopt one, four-person family. Example: I would like to adopt one single individual.
From there, you will receive an email back within 24 hours with a family that matches your ask, their family ID number, along with their wishlist, and story.
